The children's author David Walliams lost his contract with book publisher.

The comedian

Acclaimed writer for children and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his longtime publishing house, according to an announcement.

An official for the company commented: "Following a thorough review, and under the leadership of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing future works by David Walliams."

Reports indicate that the decision was reached following an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behaviour involving female individuals.

The publisher has not elaborated on the motivations for this action, noting: "We refrain from speaking about private personnel issues."

A Highly Successful Writing Journey

Walliams is one of the UK's most best-selling authors for kids, having sold more than 60 million copies globally in 55 languages.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, was published by HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

A number of his books, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as television films.

He has published over four dozen titles altogether, encompassing a festive story titled *Santa & Son*, which was published by HarperCollins this past October.

From Screen to Page

His initial claim to fame came on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has additionally received National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE back in 2017 for his services to philanthropic and artistic endeavors.

The publisher's decision comes after the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive last fall.
