Tributes Pour In for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt able to express about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "one day without mirth".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a distinct essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive placed a security hold on the cases to limit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a record citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
After the tragedy, public personalities expressed divergent comments.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering controversial remarks that were broadly criticized by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the critics last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan labeled the statements as "shocking" and remarked they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an adviser should have stepped in when the impulse to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
