Without a Script, Anthony Joshua Will Rapidly Stop Jake Paul Out - Hearn States
I have no genuine defense regarding AJ vs. Paul. It's insane the fact it's occurring and I think the naysayers are correct.
However, we just couldn't refuse it. No boxer who is sensible would have declined. Anyone who says they would are utterly dishonest through their teeth.
We took a bout which we believe is extremely easy, will give AJ an enormous presence in the United States and one of the highest earnings.
The Strategy For This Bout
AJ was going to have a tune-up bout in November in Saudi - an eight-rounder versus a guy ranked about 100th in the world heavyweight division.
It was an opportunity to get his hands wrapped with his fresh training team, do the ringwalk and get some rounds in. Currently, we're doing that exact tune-up but for about 50 times more purse.
We possess a clear game plan in mind - to knock Jake out as soon as possible. Then, we return to normal service resuming next year.
AJ will fight against a top-tier fighter in February and - should things go to plan - he will then fight Tyson Fury.
Therefore there is logic to this madness and accepting this bout will not harm Joshua's legacy. However losing to Jake or the fight even going the full distance certainly would.
It would be a complete disaster and awfully embarrassing.
Paul vs Joshua Is Definitely Not Pre-Arranged
A great many individuals have come up to me asking if it's scripted. First of all, we'd be investigated by the FBI if it was. That would be illegal. This is a professional fight and a sanctioned bout on which people are betting.
And do you think I would ever allow AJ to follow a pre-written plan involving Jake Paul? A script where we could lose or even make him look bad? Absolutely not.
We are certainly not providing this guy an edge or a chance to claim "I told you I am superior to AJ" or "I won rounds". That would be catastrophic for AJ and we're not going to risk that.
Expectations for an Quick Knockout
There are also those who say if Anthony Joshua does not stop him in the first round then it is a disgrace.
He's expected to dominate this opponent but, goodness, allow him two to three stanzas for safety. Since Jake's approach will determine the pace of the finish.
Should he come forward, it will end quickly. However if he is boxing on the back foot and attempting to tie him up and jab and move, then he may last a few rounds.
We're not going to see AJ run across the ring in the first few seconds and begin swinging wildly.
Similar to his approach against Ngannou, he will go into the ring, measure him up and then unleash with the heavy artillery.
Jake Paul Has the Ability to Whack a Little Bit
I have heard figures like Roy Jones and Atlas stating you can't count Jake out in this fight. Am I going crazy here Is there something they're seeing that I'm not?
Let us be one thing clear - Jake is a pro fighter. I believe he is a respectable cruiserweight - ranked in the top 70 globally.
This is not an individual that has not laced a pair of gloves before. He can whack a little bit. He spars Lawrence Okolie and top-ten heavyweights.
Forgetting the victory against Tyson, who was then an old man, Jake defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr - who might have been a faded fighter but was not a total pushover.
He prepared for the fight and had been a world champion who went the distance with Canelo Alvarez and nearly stopped Martinez in the final round.
Therefore I give credit to Jake Paul for training hard and showing respect for the sport , and he has accomplished so much for female boxing with his promotion company.
Yet in spite of his self-belief, passion, commitment and enhanced ability, he ought to be getting iced by Joshua.
The Moment Joshua Connects, It Is Finished
Paul and his camp are banking on a lot of things. Hoping AJ underestimates them, banking on AJ is shot, banking on AJ's inactivity will cost him, hoping AJ is low in self-belief, hoping AJ's durability isn't what it once was.
But, to their misfortune, AJ is super switched on. He's had a camp and he is preparing as if he's fighting Usyk or in a potential Dubois rematch.
I anticipate Anthony Joshua to win within two rounds with a brutal KO.
He could hit Jake Paul to the body and it could break his ribs and he would be unable to get up.
Should he land flush, he will knock him to sleep. Alternatively the referee.
It is unknown how it could play out but with the way AJ punches - with his speed and destruction - as soon as Jake is hit on the chin, the fight is over.
Subsequently we go back to AJ's primary objectives he aims to accomplish in the time he has left in boxing - to fight Tyson Fury and to become a three-time heavyweight champion of the world.
